Architectural Elements is a team of artisans that design, fabricate, and install specialized architectural & landscape related projects. Working with all metals, wood, glass, & plastics, we can custom-fabricate any manner of decorative elements and architectural details– from intricate light fixtures to multi-story staircases.

BOOKKEEPER

Job Summary:

Bookkeepers are responsible for accurately recording day-to-day financial transactions of the company.  Bookkeepers work closely with the accounting team to process accounts payable & receivable, manage invoices & tax payments, and process payroll.

Key Position Roles:

  • Maintain & operate a complete & systematic set of general books, including subsidiary ledgers, in accordance with a prescribed system of accounts
  • Post entries and prove balances on various ledgers
  • Take trial balances and prepare summary statements of ledger balances
  • Review & check a wide variety of complex account keeping records & reports
  • Prepare checks, payments, and bank deposits
  • Pay any debt as it comes due for payment and collect receivables promptly
  • Tag & monitor fixed assets
  • Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy
  • Comply with federal, state, & local legal requirements by studying requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing reports, and advising management on needed actions
  • Purchase supplies & equipment as authorized by management
  • Monitor office supply levels and reorder as necessary
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee & customer data
  • Provide clerical & administrative support to management as requested
  • Build customer & client relationships with excellent communication & customer service
  • Exhibit excellent document control & organization, digitally & physically

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree with a concentration in accounting or equivalent combination of education & work experience
  • 2+ years of professional bookkeeping experience
  • 2+ years QuickBooks experience
  • Strong understanding of budgets & all aspects of bookkeeping
  • Excellent time management, organization, & independent judgement skills
  • Strong command of both verbal & written English
  • Strong data-entry, analytical, & math skills and acute attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize & multitask
  • Construction accounting experience a plus, but not required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Operating Systems, QuickBooks, & MS Office applications
  • Ability to work in our offices in Bellingham, Washington; there is no option to telecommute at this time.
